Smiley from millan.net   Oh my BADness I must give you an update before I go much further.

This is what the dog run looked like on Monday morning

DOG RUN START

This is what it looks like today!

Dog run down

As you can see there is one post left!  That’s a heavy sucker and Mr. Stodgy Smiley from millan.net  said he would help me with it on Saturday.  See that washtub there . . . the steel one.  That was buried under my parents’ house when we sold it.  It was made to hold ice so they could ice down beverages.  It has a drain at one end that can be opened and the water would come out.  Okay now the drain plug is rusted so it drips all the time now.   The ground was so hard on Monday that I would fill the tub with water and drag it to where I needed the water to drip to soften the soil.  It worked great and I was able to get the first two posts out with no problem at all.  Then yesterday stormed and we had some much needed rain.  Thank goodness, but the last posts were sitting in mucky mud.  I removed the one closest to the shed this morning.  Too hot and humid though and I needed to come in to cool off and rest. I was able to get tons of work done on Monday and then yesterday it rained!  The rain was a blessing  . . . . I want more!

So yesterday morning I was sitting in my recliner having my morning coffee and smoke, and the phone rings.  It was none other than Smiley from millan.net. He called to tell me to run up to Meijers and take some pictures and get prices on things I liked.   So Mallory and I went up after the rain, found a few things and showed Smiley from millan.net when he came in from work.

This is what we bought last night . . .  Golden Euonymus.

Golden Euonymus

They will be planted along this fence on the side.

Side Fence

The shrubs you see behind the newly purchased items are some of our favorites.  It is included in the Master Plan to buy more of those to plant along the back fence line.

Now the search is on for some type of flowering bush to plant by the deck.  The magnolias I wanted last night didn’t seem to make it home with us.  I’m also on the search for a rain barrel.  I have this need for an old time rain barrel.  I remember the ones at the aunts farms when I was small and  . . . well, i just NEED one to put by the broken drain at the shed.

That’s all I have so far!  I’m sure there will be more stories to tell and pictures to share . . . . we might be in for a saga of sorts!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  Remember life is short . . .  do as you damn well please and enjoy the adventure!

Oh also notice that I’ve added a new category . . . The Master Plan . . . so you can keep up with the saga!

Smiley from millan.net Good morning and happy Tuesday!  I hope everyone had a great weekend (even if it was a tad short).  I have a burr up my butt (as Mr. Stodgy Smiley from millan.net says and yes he really does dance like this) about landscaping the back yard.  Now granted I’ve done nothing but sit in my recliner on my butt for a few years now.  Depression can be a killer!  All of a sudden I feel great and I want to work outside and get some things done.  Yesterday I decided to tackle the dog run in the back.  We don’t have any big dogs anymore and it’s taking up too much space.  It’s all down except for two posts which I just could not get out of the ground.  I’ll have some pictures later . . . some before and after.  There are some wild Trumpet Vines in the boulevard and the dog run was in my way of where I want to plant them.  I’ll be digging them up later this morning when its cooler.

Oh I might add that Smiley from millan.net was a little upset with me.Smiley from millan.net  He thinks my neighbor and I are collaborating on making our back yard a jungle.  (I can only wish . . .  I LOVE Michaels back yard.)  He wanted to know my master plan and was actually perturbed that I did something he’s been wanting to do for months and months.  He also let me know that the outside of the house needs staining, the deck needs to be cleaned and why in the hell did I take down the dog run instead of dusting?  After a few minutes of steam coming out of my ears Smiley from millan.net, I said to him “don’t you think you should be happy that I actually feel well and wanted to get outside.  At least I wasn’t sitting on my ass!”  He had to stop and think  . . . and then I insisted we go outside and TALK about this master plan.  Gee wiz it appears we were on the same wave length . . . . Smiley from millan.net

This story could go on and on, so let me end here for the day.  Moving On  . . . .

It’s Stamp Simply Ribbon Store blog hop today!!!!!!!  This month we have been challenged to use a Rubber Soul/Wordsworth Remembering set.  I jumped because I absolutely LOVE the Wordsworth Remembering sets . . . . I know, I know . . .  I’ve mentioned that before!

There is Blog Hop Candy today too.  It’s a Wordsworth set, Webster’s Paper Pack and some ribbon to coordinate.  You’ll need to check out Sharon Johnson’s blog to see the picture!  While you’re at it go ahead and visit the other Designers who are playing along today.

It’s a Maya Road Chipboard piece that I altered with Webster’s Pages and some Grunge Paper.  The flower is made with Spellbinders™ Sunflower and the sentiment was die cut/embossed with Labels Eleven.

So thanks for stopping by and remember  . . . . life is short, do what you damn well want to do!

Smiley from millan.net Happy Saturday!  I hope you’ve had a good week so far and you’re ready for the weekend.  I don’t have any great plans myself.  Mr. Stodgy and the girls have gone to the Indy Children’s Museum today.  Can you believe it . . . . 20 something’s wanting to go see the Barbie Exhibit?  Plus, they’re dragging their dad along.  They asked me to go, but quite frankly I’d rather stay here and either get some work done outside or play in the studio.  I’m voting play in the studio . . . but if it is a little cooler outside . . . I might be digging up some wild trumpet vines from the boulevard.  I have this crazy idea that if I can get to live, then I can make a screen for the hot tub. Smiley from millan.net  I really need to get them dug up before one of the neighbors decides to mow them down.  (Not likely because it hasn’t been mowed in months, but  . . . wishful thinking I guess.)

You know how last Saturday I was the lone hopper in the Stamp Simply Hop. Smiley from millan.net We were to use our Go-To Layout.  Well . . . this week Sharon is once again having the same challenge (don’t tell anyone, but it’s because they all didn’t get their stuff done last Saturday).  Instead of having Sharon only link to last week’s card, I decided to make one more.

Of course, I do have different go-to layouts as I’m sure we all do.  The one I’m using today is actually a sketch that came from the very first Dirty Dozen Dare To Get Dirty Challenge on Splitcoaststampers.  You can see it here.  Picture it . . . 2007 and the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club was 3 years old . . . we needed to celebrate.  All the DD past and present got together and presented a week of challenges to the Fan Club Members.  It was fabulous and Dare to Get Dirty 2010 is only a few days away – July 17.  Anyhoo, I’ve loved this sketch ever since and at one time used it so much that all my uploads were beginning to look the same.

Some of my favorite paper, a little saying and some dimensional flowers . . . . oh yeah.

Well, I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by.  I’m off to see what type of adventures I get into today . . . remember I’m feeling a little BAD!!!!!

Good Friday morning!  I have a number of thoughts running through my head at the moment.  One in particular is a sentiment I saw the other day . . .  Someday my cowboy will come.  I like that . . . nope, I LOVE that sentiment!  I think it will be on a card real soon!  I wrote it on the white board above my desk so I wouldn’t forget . . . . Smiley from millan.net  I’m feeling BAD, very very BAD!!!!

I suppose I should get serious for a minute.  Today is the Just For Fun® Friday Color Challenge after all!  Now I have to admit that I picked the colors this week and I had a horrible time with them.  Many, many ideas went into the trash and the one I really wanted to do . . . well, let’s just say that it didn’t work either.

JFFCC19

We would love to have you play along with us!  You don’t have to use Just For Fun® stamps, especially if you don’t have any yet.  However, if you do play along, you might just be the lucky winner of a $50 shopping spree!   All you have to do is make a card/project using the above colors and post a direct link on the Just For Fun® Blog.

For further inspiration, you should also visit the blogs of the other Designers. They’ve got some awesome projects to share with you today.

Since I bombed on my major idea, I thought it would be fun to try my hand at Faux Postage.  If you’ve ever been to a stamp convention when JFF is there and you’ve stopped by the booth,  you’ve seen the Faux Postage Demo.  It is by far the best demo I’ve ever seen and I’ve never ever tried it.  There’s a great tutorial on the Just For Fun® Blog that Sandy Sandrus did for us.

That’s all for now!  Thanks for stopping by and remember . . .  life is short, make the most of the adventures that come your way.  I sure as hell am!

Happy Smiley from millan.net Well gang, I’ve finally finished all my projects that had major deadlines.  I’m so pleased with the way everything turned out BUT alas, I can’t show you yet.  I know, I know  . . . you’re yelling NO TEASING IT’s NOT FAIR!  So sorry Charleys but you’ll get to see them soon enough – just a few more weeks until the Spellbinders CHA Blog Frenzy!

Oh and by the way I had a great time on the float last Saturday.  Here’s a quick picture of us after the parade.

3rd of july 2010 parade 031

It’s the float that floats . . . . Smiley from millan.net Can you tell its a pontoon boat?  Boy I’ve spent many hours floating (as well as many other things Smiley from millan.net) on this boat!

Now I have to ask you . . . .

Today The Color Throwdown is celebrating their 100th Color Challenge!  Just For Fun® Rubber Stamps is one of the many sponsors giving away prizes.  Now I have to admit that because JFF is giving away a $25 Gift Certificate we had a sneak peek at the colors.  The JFF Gift Certificate can be found on Broni’s blog, Splashes of Watercolor.  You’ll for sure want to go there and leave a comment.  Do make sure you visit The Color Throwdown Blog so you can visit all their designers who are giving away prizes and there are some fabulous prizes being given away.  The JFF Designers participating this week are:

Kat Tucker
Starla Nelson
Roni Johnson
Glenda Brooks
Margarita Ybarra

I made a card myself for the challenge . . . oh please don’t die of Smiley from millan.net!  It’s not all that much.

ColorThrowdown100July7

I water colored the peony with Distress Reinkers, die cut/embossed it with Oval Nesties and did some sponging around the edges.  I then decided to make a frame for the peony with Labels One.  The sentiment on the tag is a new sentiment set from Just For Fun®.

Well, I suppose that’s all for today!  Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, enjoy the adventures that the day brings you!
