Happy weekend!  How many of you have great plans for the next few days?  Mr. Stodgy will be planting the final two bushes I didn’t get in before my unfortunate incident.  Me, I’m watching “Rebel Without a Cause” and contemplating going into the studio and color.  I haven’t colored images for so long and this might be the kick I need to start some practicing.

Mallory came home for a few days and when she’s home, Kate drops in.  We actually had a family dinner out last night, then stopped by to visit mom and Uncle Billy for a while.

When we came back I drug Kate and Mallory into the studio to take some pictures I needed . . . you’ll see them Thursday!   While there, the girls decided to decorate my cast  . . . I had to talk them out of drawing male body parts . . . .

instead we used copics, airbrushing and screens . . .

they even signed their work

cast 1

I think they did a pretty good job myself

cast 2

it still needs something . . . .

ah life, it’s just one great adventure.  What was it that Peter Panning said in Hook, “to live would be the greatest adventure of all” . . . or at least something similar to that anyway!

This morning I called my hand surgeon, the one who operated on my trigger thumb last year, to see if he would look at my wrist.  Luckily he was in the New Albany office today and I could see him at 1:00.  My aunt came to take me and stayed with me throughout the office visit.

Good news!  I don’t need surgery . . . in their words . . . perfect, it was perfect.  I asked . . . Perfect?  yes a perfect break, requiring no surgery.

Bad news!  they don’t have white casts anymore!  The choices were:  pink, purple, red, blue, black  . . . no white!  I asked for white . . . I wanted white!  Why?  Well to alter of course!  your ideas to alter my cast was perfect!  What color did I get . . . my aunt picked it . . . then went oh know, too bright!

pink

well, I think it can be airbrushed.  Yes, I think it can be!

I’m one handed for 3 weeks at least.  however they did leave my fingers exposed and said typing was exercise and I should exercise my fingers . . . YES!

Don’t you think this looks like it would pack one hell of a backhand?  I think so!  Maybe a spinning backhand?  Deadly!  I ‘ve been known to break 3 boards with a palm fist . . . . now with a cast!  deadly!

That’s all for now . . . its been a long day!  I will tell you this . . . mark your calendars for September 9 . . . Something GOOD this way comes!

In the mean time, I don’t know what I’ll be able to do if anything artsy wise.  The thumb needs to stop hurting first . . . . that’s where its broke . . . The radius right below my thumb.  Geeze not soft tissue . . . . . bwahahahahahaha.

Thanks for stopping by . . . remember life is short, make each day count!

Picture it!  Friday night and Mr. stodgy was home early.  I suggested we go up the street to Best restaurant and have dinner.  I called mom to see if she and Uncle Billy wanted to meet us.  She declined saying they were tired from working at the river house.  Mr. Stodgy then decided it was too much food and we decided to order in pizza.

While waiting for the pizza to be delivered, I went out on the deck and checked the hot tub.  It was probably 30 minutes or so  . . . adding chemicals, changing filters, cleaning the one I took out, blah blah blah.

well, I was closing the lid and grabbed the strap to pull the lid forward into place.  The next thing I knew, I was on my ass, up against the house and completely stunned.  The strap gave way on the lid and ripped, sending me flying backward.  It was loud enough for Mr. Stodgy to hear and actually came to check on me.  Did he help me up?  No!  Did he ask if I was okay?  No!  He did ask what happened though.  I sat up then and said my wrist was hurting that I thought I broke it.  yeah right,  Mr. Stodgy said more than likely soft tissue damage.

I finally made it into the house to sit for awhile.  The pizza was delivered and while I ate a few pieces, my thumb was getting sore and the pain was shooting up my arm.  I told Mr. S that I felt I needed to go to the ER.  he pointed to his pizza as if to say . .  . duh I’m still eating.  I asked him if I should call my aunt to take me and he said he would after he finished his pizza.

So I waited, changed out of my wet clothes, grabbed a pillow and we finally left.

After a few hours, x-rays, etc. . . . . here I sit typing one handed . . .

An impacted radial break.

I won’t know for a few more days what’s going to happen, but when I know you’ll know!

Oh and yes I called mom to let her know it was all her fault.  If the had met us for dinner none of this would have happened!

Oh wow . . . what a fast and furious weekend it was!  So much happening and so much to do.  I did make it to Stampaway on Saturday much to my delight.  If I had stayed at home it would have been a waste of the entire day.  After the U-Haul was brought in, etc., it took them all of 30 minutes to load Mallory’s stuff into the truck.  Yes, I guess keeping my head up my stamping-ass was a good thing that day.  I got to give my friend Nami from Denami Designs a hug and also talk with Rick and Debby from Just For Fun®.  Let’s not forget Ted from Stampers Anonymous . . . he’s always a hoot!  I spied Mario and Tim and did say hi but that’s all the time I wasted . . . had other things to do.

Here’s a big ole Smiley from millan.net for all of you who recognized me, stopped me and said hi! YOU absolutely made my day!!!!  Thanks for for introducing yourselves!

Sunday was the Kentucky Motorsports Hall of Fame Inductions.  Both my dad and my uncle were inducted and what an honor it was.

Here’s my mom accepting on behalf of my dad.

Mom KMHF

Here’s me accepting on behalf of my uncle who was too ill to attend.  Because my uncle had previously received an award in the winter, they had a second one made that I accepted.  My uncle later made me a gift of one of the awards. . . . . I was so touched and honored that he gave it to me.

It was made even more special in the fact that a re-induction of Harry Hyde, Sr., was being made that day and his son, Harry, Jr., was there to accept the award on his behalf.  My dad raced against and with Harry Hyde for years and my uncle is a friend of Harry Jr.’s.  Harry was gone to NASCAR by the time my uncle started driving, but still they knew each other.

For movie and racing fans, if you’ve ever seen the movie with Tom Cruise, Days of Thunder, then you know about Harry Hyde.  The character Harry Hogge was based on Harry Hyde.  I asked Harry, Jr., how much of the character was based on his dad and how accurate it was . . .  his reply . . . a whole lot!  (I had heard rumors that it was very accurate and that it was done without his approval.)

Oh and let me not forget that one of Harry’s drivers was also inducted, Andy Hampton.  Andy drove the local tracks for Harry and won numerous championships.  He drove for my dad (his promotions) for years and years.  It was such an honor for me to finally meet him . . . needless to say I had been a huge fan for many, many years!  He doesn’t look the same without the cigar!

Then yesterday we finally got Mallory moved back to school!  It’s more quiet around the house this morning and quite honestly . . . I already miss her!  But ssshhhhhh don’t tell her!

Now it’s time I head back into the studio and work.  I’ve got some projects that are time sensitive that need to be done and I think . . . maybe . . . . there might be some exciting news coming soon!  Just sayin’.

Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, enjoy the adventure!

Wow what a day it has been!  I’m a little tired and my back hurts a tad bit, but my feet don’t hurt  . . . . WOO HOO!

I have to say that this has been one awesome day!  First off, who did I get to meet this morning but none other that Leslie Miller.  OMG, we were having breakfast and I was taking my tray up when I saw the Flourishes Team.  I walked over to hug Jan Marie and THERE sitting next to Jan Marie was Leslie.  Can I just say that I have been a fan of Leslie’s for ever and a day.  We’ve emailed, we’ve chatted and have always said we would love to meet one day!  TODAY WAS THE DAY!  I was overjoyed!!!!!!!!!!!!

To make the day even better I walked the floor with Daisy from eclectic Paperie, our roomie Micki and Cindy Lyles!  Okay I have a new sister friend  . . .  Cindy.  There are very few times in your life when you meet someone and automatically feel comfortable and click.  We’ve laughed, joked, been BAD and had an absolutely awesome day!

I can’t end the day without telling you of some of my favorite finds of the day.

First off, Tim’s new Configurations rock!

TIM CONFIGURATIONS

Then Wendy’s Art Parts are going to be a major “MUST HAVE.”

WENDY ART PARTS 2

Another thing I saw at the Stampers Anonymous booth was Darcie’s new releases.  These made me stop in my tracks, congratulate and praise Darcie.  I actually walked right up to her, introduced myself and told her I thought it was the best release I had seen in a long time.  Not her typical style but alas I failed to get pictures.  I’ll have them for you tomorrow!

Graphic 45 has gone Steampunk!  I LOVE it.  Cindy and I stood there, drool running down our chin.  If we could have figured out how to get these projects out of the showroom . . . .  well, maybe we shouldn’t go there.

GRAPHIC 45 1

Just look at this!

GRAPHIC 45 2

Last but not least, BasicGrey!.  I have really not liked the last few releases and haven’t purchased any BasicGrey for some time.  THIS you will see plenty of  . . .  BasicGrey Curio!

BASICGREY CURIO

This is all I have for now.  We still have lots to see and I’m sure I’ll have more tomorrow evening!  Thanks for stopping by and all of you who stopped me on the floor today, introduced yourself as a blog follower . . .  THANK YOU!  You absolutely made my day!!!!!
