It’s still Wednesday, right? Well I know it is while I’m writing this, and hopefully I’ll finish by midnight. I’ve had one of those days where nothing wants to come together. I went for a haircut this morning and hung around longer that I wanted. I went to my mother’s today for one of those Salon Days. We have a friend that comes in, and cuts all of our hair in one setting. Mine was a little longer than I liked today, so I hung around until she was done with everyone else to have that extra half inch trimmed off. Just that tad bit made all the difference. Of course, now it’s only about an inch on the top – do they still make that contraption that you can attach to a vacuum cleaner and cut your hair? But wait, I have been meaning to get some dog grooming clippers . . .

Anyhoo, before I left this morning I did get into the studio. I made a card. It sucked. My daughter even said it was the ugliest thing she had ever seen. You won’t be seeing it . . . I believe it is now in the town dump.

I ended up sitting here on my butt for most of the afternoon. I did take the pups out for an occasional walk and watched my soaps. Well, I tried to watch the soaps. Yes, I’m an All My Children and One Life to Live junkie! It all makes my life look so easy – thank goodness I’m not caught in a 1968 time warp. I would be 10 years old and it makes me shiver just to think about it. All those preteen hormones rushing and being a tomboy to boot. I can hear Charlie Brown now . . . aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggg!

As I sat here all afternoon, I kept thinking about that SCS Sketch Challenge today and what a mess I had made of that card. I needed to stamp. Yesterday I made five cards that had been ordered by our hairdresser, Kathy, and needed to get made before today. I was on a roll yesterday and wanted that roll to carry over today. Hah so much for wishing or even hoping.

The girls came in, one with a new boyfriend. Does she not realize she is going back to school next week and long-distance relationships just don’t work? We found that out last year. But that’s another story for another time. I ordered pizza for everyone and while I was sitting here munching on my new fave, Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza, I had a brainstorm. Yes, it hurt – don’t even ask!

I have been an admirer of Wendy Vecchi’s work since February when I met her at CHA Anaheim. Then in Chicago, I met here again. This time she was a demo in the Ranger Booth and I got to spend unlimited time watching her work. Saturday while at Stampaway in Cincy, I purchased a couple of sets. But, I was determined to make Rubbernecker stamps work and so that is what I did tonight.

I got out the Grunge Board, all my Shimmer Mist, and some inks and went to work. I had so much fun creating this card.

SC189

I started by stamping the flower image twice on plain Grunge Board and then cut them both out. The middle circle was die cut with a Cuttlebug circle die and my Wizard. There has to be an easier way to make that work, because my plates got stuck and didn’t want to come out. I’ll have to look that one up. Once the flowers had been inked, I stamped a screen background on the flowers. I picked a very large flourish from the Grunge Board package – well actually, it was one of the last I had and I even cut it down. It was partially covered with Peeled Paint Crackle Paint and when dry, inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. To make the background, I sprayed different colors of shimmer mist onto white paper. After it was dry and the colors I wanted, I misted the How Do I Love Thee background with water and stamped it twice on the background. Those are the water blotches you see in the photo. The edges of the top two panels were sponged with Vintage Photo and then sewn together. The flourish is adhered to the background panel with Matte Accents, and the flower is raised on mounting tape. A Tim Holtz Hitch Fastener holds the flower together.

Here’s hoping you had a great day today!

Good afternoon! Jeanne got here last night around 8:30, and by the time we stopped for drive through, got back to the house and got her settled, we only had a few hours to chat before we both just crashed. We have errands to run today, but I had a brainstorm (and yes it did hurt) for the Sketch Challenge on SCS today. I couldn’t wait to make that second , walk the pups while waiting and then head to the stamp room. Jeanne is still down there working away! She claims to be working in slow motion today.

Anyhoo, what I decided to do was incorporate both the Sketch and Technique Challenges today. Once I got the image stamped, I realized that I was going to need to go to a bigger card. Cut the panel wrong in the beginning. Oh well, we now have a 5-1/2″ square card.

SC181

All the panels started out as Neenah Classic Crest Solar White. I stamped the flowers and the swirls, and then misted the paper with Shimmer Mist made with Scattered Straw and Gold Perfect Pearls. The sentiment panel is just a scrap of white, misted with the Shimmer Mist and the sentiment stamped in black. The flower panel was distressed, and then all the edges of the white (now shimmery) were sponged with Adirondack Latte.

  • Stamps: In the Meadow and So Swirly from Lizzie Anne Designs

I hope you have a great day today! We are off to run some errands and I’m gonna get a quick haircut.

Well good afternoon! Hope everyone is having a good day so far. I’ve been quite busy myself, catching up on emails, phone calls, puppy watch, etc., and I still have tons more to do. It has felt good to get back in the stamp room after having five days off. Sometimes I think I need that refresher period. The only problem right now, is that I have so many projects that have time frames, and I’m just a tad behind at the moment. I need to catch up on what I can before the 19th. That’s when Jeanne flies in, we do the Epilepsy Walk (which, I am still taking donations for), and then we head out on our little road trip.

Last night I was able to get to the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge, using Real Red, So Saffron and Regal Rose.

CC170

I decided that I wanted to do a little color wash for this card, and applied a very light wash to a piece of watercolor paper. For the image, I colored the stamp with Real Red and Old Olive markers, misted with water and stamped on the still damp watercolor paper. I then colored in the open areas of the flower with Regal Rose marker. The edges of the image were sponged with So Saffron. For the background, I applied So Saffron reinker to a piece of Cut-n-Dry Felt and stamped over the So Saffron cardstock. For more dimension, the swirls were then stamped in Adirondack Snow Cap.

While I had these stamps out, I went ahead and did today’s Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge with them today.

SC180

I used the same swirls for this card, and stamped them in Snow Cap on the pink background panel, and then sponged the edges of all the background papers with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The only other stamping on this card, is that on the fragment.

sc180 FRAGMENT

I glued the fragment to a piece of the background paper, but it out, and then stamped the flowers in brown and the sentiment in black. The fragment is then raised on mounting tape.

Good morning. Today is the long awaited day! INTRODUCING

The Jeanne Streiff Collection for Rubbernecker Stamp Company. So now you know, the designer of these wonderful florals and flourishes that the Design Team have been using the last few days are from our very own Jeanne! I’m so lovin’ these images. For months I kept telling Jeanne I wanted some solid florals that I could just ink and stamp. Well by golly, she did it!! They are deeply etched red rubber stamps mounted on smart cling cushion.

After making today’s sample, I got a brainstorm (and yes, it hurt). I’m gonna have to have two of this image. One to leave as one image and another to cut apart and have two separate images. The possibilities are endless – oh MY BADNESS!

Flora and Flairs

For this card, I inked the image with distress inks. The stem flourish was inked in Shabby Shutters and then rock n’ rolled in different areas with Peeled Paint. The flower was inked in Dried Marigold and then rock n’ rolled in Spiced Marmalade. Using a Tsukineko Fantastix, I highlighted the inside of the flower with more of the Spiced Marmalade. Once I had the image inked, I misted it with water and then stamped on Vanilla cardstock. Now after I had the image stamped, I went on the search for some matching paper. I know, I know – and I do this so often, I match the paper AFTER I pick my ink colors. I settled on these two papers from the BasicGrey Sugared collection and then matched that to Prism cardstock. Probably what you can’t see in the photo, is that I stamped the Wheat Swirls Flourish on the background paper in Distress Embossing Ink. It added just the slightest design on the paper which takes on a different look depending on the light. The image panels were all cut using circle Nestabilities and the edges were sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I hope you have a fabulous day today! I need to get some more stamping done before I leave for the Gateway Rubber Stamp Getaway tomorrow. I suppose I should do laundry too so that I will have something to wear.

I decided to do today’s Sketch Challenge on Splitcoast, and thought that I would edit and add it to this post. After all, it is another sample of The Jeanne Streiff Collection. I was going for more of a monochromatic look, but decided at the last minute to add the black. Glad I did!

SC179

I stamped the flower image with Distress Embossing Ink on white paper, heat set it, then stamped another image over the top. The second layer I embossed with Ranger UTEE. Instead of using ink on the paper, I decided to use two different shimmer mist concoctions. I mixed Milled Lavender with Pearl Perfect Pearls and then Dusty Concord with Pearl Perfect Pearls. I sprayed the image panel with both, allowing them to dry in between colors. I was amazed at how the image stamped with the embossing ink only soaked up the colors and got darker. Well, live and learn! I then stamped the background with one of Jeanne’s new flourish designs in Milled Lavender and then misted the background with the Milled Lavender Shimmer Mist. This baby really does sparkle in real life. I’m just sorry I can’t get a photo that does it justice.

SC179 cutout

I cut the circle images for the flowers with Spellbinders Circle Nestabilities and added some black ribbon and brads. There would be more brads, but darn it all, I have one left and only two smaller ones. Guess I’m gonna have to shop – . Anyhoo, it’s just a another sample of how versatile these stamps really are!

Good Tuesday morning! What an exciting day for all of us at Rubbernecker Stamp Company today! There’s tons going on, so grap your cup and sit a spell.

Please help us our two new Guest Designers, Leigh O’Brien and Tami Mayberry. Please stop by their blogs and see what they have been up to. Make sure you tell them hello too! We are so excited to have them stamping with us over the next couple of months!

It’s also Tuesday. That means there’s a Treasure Hunt as well. As always, you can find all the deets and info, including the first clue, on the Rubbernecker Home Page. Jeanne and Linda are offering up some Rubbernecker Blog Candy today too! Make sure you visit them and leave a comment for a chance to win a $10 Rubbernecker Gift Card.

Last but not least, it’s another Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge today – RBC12, and it’s a sketch challenge today. Don’t forget that we have changed our challenges up so that you can incorporate the SCS Color Challenge into your RN Blogger Challenge card if you wish. All the requirements for participation can be found on Jeanne’s blog. I’m going to go ahead and post the sketch for today’s challenge, but I’m going to wait to post my card. I’m so in the mood to do a Color Challenge and I’m thinking I want to incorporate it with the Blogger Challenge.

RBC12 Sketch

As you are blog hopping among the Design Team’s blogs today, take a note of all of the images used. The Senior Design Team Members (Kittie, Candy, Broni, Shelly, Linda and Jeanne) have all posted previews with the new line of stamps designed by one of our very own designer team members. This line will be released tomorrow, June 4th, so I’m sure you’ll be seeing more samples tomorrow too!

Here are the two that I’ve already posted for you over the couple of weeks. The first vaguely resembles today RBC Challenge, which I just noticed, was originally posted on May 21.

SC177

Now the second one (orignally posted on May 20).

Floral Silhouette

Have a great day, enjoy your blog hopping, and I’ll be back a little later with my challenge card.

Well, I’m back!  I finally got my Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge Sketch done today.  I’ve used a combination of two of the new Rubbernecker images being released tomorrow.  I colored the floral stamps with markers, misted them with water and then stamped.  The background is made with one of our new flourishes being released, also designed by the same Design Team Member as the florals.
