I would say good morning, but it’s taken me all day to get myself moving and work on some pictures. Jeanne and I went to San Mateo this past weekend to work the Heirloom Stamp Show with Rubbernecker. It was such a wonderful experience to see how the booth is set up and all the work entailed in getting ready for a show. We stayed busy the entire time, but had such a good time. I was working on a demo for Ranger products making tags. I had so much fun playing with the Ranger Paint Daubers, Grunge Board, Crackle Paint, Alcohol Inks and the Tim Holtz Fragments. My fingers are still stained with ink! That’s how I know I had fun!!! On Saturday, SCSer Harriet Kelly came by the booth to visit us. It was so exciting to finally get to meet Harriet. We’ve talked online and by email for so long, and it’s such a pleasure to meet someone who you know will be an instant friend.

After the show on Saturday, we hung around and Dave and Pat took Jeanne and me into San Francisco for some sight seeing. Even though I had been to San Francisco a couple of times before, my last trip was in the early 80’s. It was fun for me to see what had changed. Our first stop was Lombard Street. I had mentioned to Dave earlier that I remembered my dad taking us there. Pat and I walked down, but Jeanne and Dave drove down. Dave’s truck is the black one in this picture.

I was so amazed by the sea lions that now gather in the Bay. I knew I hadn’t seen them there before and when we were leaving the wharf area, I saw signs that explained it all. After the 1983 earthquake the sea lions started to gather along the wharf in the area because of the fish supply. A few of them now stay year round and never leave the area.

One of the many street artists was Captain Jack Sparerib. I think I could have stayed and watched his show all day. I am such a huge Johnny Depp fan and the ventriloquist looks just like him and was so funny and entertaining.

I’m sorry I didn’t get a picture of the old man sitting on the sidewalk behind the bush. Here was this old guy, sitting on a box, and he was holding a screen of shrubbery and bush. He waited patiently for just the perfect person to walk by and would drop the shrub screen and yell out. He got a few passerbys – just ask Dave!

On the ride home, we had to make an unexpected stop. I really think Dave was just tired of us women. Here we stand on the side of the road where Dave left us. Pat took this picture of Jeanne and me.

And then I shot this picture of Pat.

As you can tell from this beautiful sunset that it really wasn’t all that late.

And here’s Dave changing the tire on the trailer.

Dave Fixing flat

He had a spare in the trailer and after the blow out of the first tire, he put the spare on. We probably hadn’t gone maybe 6 miles when . . . . well, here’s a picture of the spare.

After a few phone calls and directions, here is the guy with Dave supervising from the background, putting on the new tire.

We arrived back at Jeanne’s in-laws around midnight. Needless to say, I slept in this morning.

Good morning ya’ll! I think it’s Friday. I’m so confused on my days and times that it just occurred to me while I was typing this that it actually is Thursday, isn’t it? Yes, I remember now. Kittie left us yesterday morning and Jeanne and I spent the day with Dave, Pat and Rob at Rubbernecker. The Millers are absolutely the most generous and fun people that you will ever meet. I have so enjoyed getting to meet the entire family and spending time with them. Yesterday Jeanne and I got to see how the rubber is pressed and trimmed. I felt like a kid in a candy store! We did a little work while we were there too, getting ready for the upcoming show in San Mateo this weekend. I sure hope that I get to meet some more of you at that show – I know of one fellow SCSer that has already contacted us and said I can’t believe you are here and I was planning on going! We’ll see you this weekend Harriett!

Today we are hanging with Jeanne’s family and just kicking back and chillin’ out! I do know that I need to find somewhere to buy a nice warm sweatshirt though. You would laugh yourself silly if you could see Jeanne and I running around in these awesome soft, warm robes that Dave gave us. We actually wore them in the car last night on our way here. Dave stopped for some Starbucks before we left town and thought it was so funny that we still had them on. Can you believe he actually made us get out of the car and go in the store to get our own coffee? Of course, we did take the robes off first! Maybe a little later when we look a little more presentable (ya know when the hair is not sticking out all over, etc.) we might get a picture. Never mind. I did get a picture of just the robe. For me, this is definitely a hot tub robe!

Before I left home, I had colored up a few of the Stamp Oasis Fantasy images and today is my last one. I love these images and they are so much fun to color. I’m sorry that I don’t have a picture of the product for you today. This is one I had finished during the few days before I left, and completely spaced the product.

First Love

The image was stamped in Adirondack Pitch Black and colored with Copic Markers. The edges of the designer paper and the image were sponged with Faded Jeans Distress Ink. A Red Spica Glitter Pen was used to highlight the hearts between the couple.

Our journey through CHA has come to an end. By mid-day today we had seen all that we were interested in and came away with some fabulous ideas. Some of the most exiting new products I was most taken with were from Ranger and/or Tim Holtz. Not only does Ranger have the new line of pigment inks coming out there is also the new White Opaque pen. I was able to get a photo of the white opaque pen sample board.

Also at the Ranger booth I found some altered canvases using Grunge Board and the Crackle Paint.

I’ve been working on something similar for the last few weeks and now can’t wait to get home to try some of the new things that I saw.

Tim Holtz is coming out with some smaller Grunge Board that will be excellent for card makers. The pieces are the same elements that are now out, only a smaller version. One thing I did see at the Tim Holtz Idea-ology booth was a Grunge Board flower.

One of our stops was the Maya Road booth. Some of the new books and little key chain pieces are just fabulous.

Kittie leaves us tomorrow morning, and Jeanne and I head on into the valley for a few days. Both Jeanne and I will be working the Rubbernecker booth this coming weekend at the Heirloom’s San Mateo Rubber Stamps & Paper Arts Festival.

Granny

The image was stamped in Adirondack Pitch Black and then colored with Copic Markers. To accent Granny’s glasses, there is a small drop of Ranger Glossy Accents on each lens. The edges of the image and the designer paper were all sponged with Weathered Wood Distress Ink. The top flap was made by cutting a scalloped and regular oval with Nestabilities. The designer paper was faux stitched with a black gel pen and Ranger Liquid Pearls decorate the scallops on the flap.

Monday was such a great day! Productive and fun!! The first place we headed was to the Ranger Booth to do the Make and Take. Ranger is coming out with a new line of pigment inks and a new white gel pen. The Make and Take was using both products, along with some Maya Road chipboard, and we wanted to be some of the first in line.

Make and Take

Jeanne, Pat and I were lucky enough to get a seat right away. Kittie had to wait a bit.

Make and Take 2

It seemed like we were at the Ranger booth quite a while today. The ladies from Flourishes came by and we had to have a photo op.

with Flourishes

Then we ran into Sherrie Siemens and Alli Miles . . . Another photo op.

As we were just hanging around, we took the opportunity to have a Rubbernecker Team picture made.

I had been hoping for day to get the opportunity to meet Julie Ebersole. Today was the day! We finally found the A Muse Booth and Julie was there. I can’t even begin to imagine what was running through her mind when she turned around and all these Dirty Girls were standing there just smiling at her! How much fun!!

Tonight was our Lizzie Anne Team Dinner and also the Dirty Dozen/Moderator dinner. Needless to say, we couldn’t be at two places at one time and the Lizzie Anne Team won over.

One more photo, Dave finally found some hair!

It’s a little late, and this girl’s flabby flanny is a draggin’ . . . more tomorrow.
