I decided this morning that I needed a challenge so I checked in on today’s Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge. It has been forever since I’ve done any of the SCS Challenges and decided that I needed to get back to basics some. You see, the daily challenges on Splitcoast were the first things I took part in after lurking on the site for a few months. It’s where I developed my own style and learned so much about stamping. There is nothing like a good challenge to get the daily mojo going!
When I saw today’s sketch, I knew immediately what paper I wanted to use and what colors. I’ve had the BasicGrey Urban Prairie paper pad out on my desk for weeks, and until today I’ve not used it. I feel that this card is a step outside the box for me. There are no sponging, no brads and no ribbon. There is some sanding though . . . I just couldn’t let those edges go!
The circles, the sentiment panel and the butterflies were die cut and embossed with Spellbinders Nestabilities and Shapeabilities. I tried these butterflies a couple of different ways before I settled on stenciling them with Broken China Distress Ink. You should have seen the mess I had when I used glitter . . . yuck. To tone down the butterflies, I misted them with Broken China/Gold Distressed Pearlized Mist (or Shimmer Mist).
