Good morning and happy Monday!  I hope y’all had a great weekend.   I had the fam damily in on yesterday to celebrate Kate’s birthday!  It was so nice to have them all in again . . . I think it’s been since last July when we could all gather together here.  My uncle felt like coming over and they got to stay for a couple of hours.  AND

speaking of Kate’s birthday.  It was some months ago when both my girls complained that I NEVER made anything for them.  So, remember this recipe box I posted last week . . . . I made that for Kate!  The funny thing was, when she saw the alcohol ink vase the next day, she asked if it were her present because she really, really liked it.  I told her no, but she could have it if she wanted.  When she left today she had the vase in her arms as well.

Being on an altered kick these days, I decided that Kate needed one more thing for her birthday.  I decided to alter a wood birdhouse that I picked up at the Peddler’s Mall to go along with the recipe box.

BirdHouseFront

No stamps here, just Webster’s Pages Postcards from Paris Kit from Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and a grunge board butterfly and bird.  To stain the edges of the birdhouse and under the overhangs, I used a watercolor wash of Ranger Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I’m off to finish up some blog hop projects (tomorrow is the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store hop) and I need to finish working up my Wednesday alcohol ink class at Lavender Sentiments.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  Remember  . . . life is short, enjoy the adventures that come your way!

  1. it’s about time you made something for your daughter! i hope i can chuckle WITH you. i still owe mine a sock monkey from 18 years ago! she still remembers…darn. i don’t think i am going to get away with that one, so i think i need to start searching for the socks. i enjoy your blog.

  2. Your birdhouse is sooooo adorable! It is the perfect match for the sweet little recipe box you made…(does that mean you don’t want to break up the set and now have a nice Easter present ready???) You work is sooo pretty and always an inspiration. I am waiting for our LSS to get some Webster’s paper in so I can play too!

  4. This is gorgeous Sherry and I’m sure it made your daughter so very happy. Love how you embellished the bird house so much too look at and ooh and ah over. TFS!!! your project with us, looking forward to the blog hop and another great creation from you. 😀

  5. Lucky Kate to be the recipient of the goodies you have been creating! This birdhouse is awesome!! I made a project this weekend in which I used the Tim Holtz distress inks and the glue and other assorted c**p on the cheap wood I was using caused the ink to not adhere as evenly as I would have liked. Everyone else seemed to love the look, and now after seeing how cool the uneven coverage adds to the great distressed look of this bird house, I like my project better! I guess we are all a little too hard on ourselves sometimes. Thanks for sharing this….made my morning! Hugs!

  6. Sherry I love the birdhouse along with the recipe holder. Glad to see the energy is back. Have a warm and sunny day.

  11. Very pretty, it’s a pity the real birdies wont get to stay in such a beautiful house, but the weather would spoil it, so best keep it with the recipe box.
Your daughter’s a lucky girl, to have such a talented mum that can make such original gifts.
