Smiley from millan.net Happy Tuesday!  I hope your week started off okay and your Monday was good.  I had the plumber in to work on a leak in the sump pump . . . . sounds like a fabulous time, doesn’t it?  At least I don’t have a waterfall in the storage room now.  It makes Mr. Stodgy happy! Smiley from millan.net (Don’t tell anyone, but he really does dance like that!)

If you read along yesterday, you know I’ve started something new at the end of my posts.  Instead of giving you a complete recipe of all the product used in written form, I’m now including photos.  My thinking behind this is that it will help answer some questions on what type of product I use and where you can find it.  I want to be as “helpful” Smiley from millan.net as I possibly can and answer your questions in the process; and so many of you do email asking about product.

I have a couple of big projects coming up, one is for a class I’m having here on Wednesday night for some girls that I graduated high school with.  Facebook has been great for all of us to get reconnected again and I’ve been promising a craft night . . . so . . . Smiley from millan.net we will do. More than likely we’ll be making a note book, so I’ll have that to show you maybe tomorrow! There’s a lot to do before I even begin to think of that. THEN I got a huge box of new playthings in today . . . . I mean huge. Okay, not one, there were two priority mail boxes! Get ready for some cool altered holiday items! Smiley from millan.net

Keeping with the holiday theme, I worked up a few more gift tags last night.  That brings me to five now . . . I shouldn’t need to many more.  Oh wait . . . . I might.  I always forget that Mallory ends up with more gifts to give than I do.

Now for all of you who say you just write the name on the package . . . seriously, these tags (yesterday’s and today’s) probably took less than 30 minutes to complete start to finish!

Using Neenah Classic Crest Solar White paper, the holly image from JustRite Holiday Cheer Set, was stamped five times in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copic Markers.  The holly border was then stamped five times in Ranger Olive Archival ink.  To speed along my die cutting, I placed the images down on my cutting plate, placed my dies (cutting edge down – Spellbinders™ S4-114 Standard Circles – Large and S4-125 Scalloped Circles – Small) over the images, and ran them through the Wizard™ at the same time.  Easy peasy!  For the tag itself I used the #3 die from S4-283 2010 Heirloom Ornaments . . .

HollyGift Tags with Paper

I cut some strips of red cardstock, folded it in half and placed the die over the fold.  See the black showing through at the top of the die?

HollyGiftTags with Die

This gave me a fold and a place to punch a hole and tie my gold cord.  We’ll be able to write “to” and “from” on the inside.

I hope you have a great day and remember to take advantage of the adventures that come your way today . . . remember life is short (eat dessert first of course)!

Product for Holly Gift Tags:

Happy Monday!  I hope y’all had a great weekend.  Our “Fall into Christmas” Bazaar was fabulous and I was able to pick up a few really cool Christmas gifts from some of the vendors.  We are having a new baby in the family and yesterday was the Baby Shower for little girl/boy Hartlauf.  My nephew and his wife are getting ready for their first and won’t tell us any names they’ve picked out except for the middle names . . . . Italian middle, German last.  Can’t wait to see what the first name is going to be!  Anyhoo, that’s how I spent my weekend . . . celebrating!

I don’t know about you guys, but we don’t buy gift tags here.  I’ve made some fancy Christmas tags in the past, but over the last few years Mallory and I, either one of us, would just punch a bunch of tag shapes from white cardstock, and write names on them.  This happens because I haven’t taken the time to make any tags and always wait until the last minute to even think about it.  Then of course, by then I’m so wrapped up in other projects that I don’t have time and it has fallen to Mallory (while she is in the middle of wrapping gifts).

SO . . . .

the other night while I was just putt zing about in the studio I decided to make a few tags.  I didn’t have anything else to do, was bored, and thought  what the hell, might as well make something constructive.

SherryCheeverJustRiteGiftTagsNovember8(4)FULLPHOTO

With Copic Markers, I colored the little stocking image from JustRite Holiday Cheer Set, die cut/embossed the image then with Spellbinders™ Small Circles and mounted it on a Large Scalloped Circle.  The sentiment is stamped in Ranger Olive Archival ink.  I used S3-030 Tag Shape 3 to die cut a tag from Graphic45 Christmas Past paper and mounted it on a small white manila tag.  I added some gold paint around the edge and tied on some gold cording to finish the tag off.  Foam mounting tape was used to separate the layers of the circles on the tag.  Hopefully you can see the space in the photo.

I’m going to try something new today with my recipe.  I’m going to try and give you more detailed info in the post and then show you pictures of the product.  Let me know what you think!

Here’s hoping you have a fabulous day and remember . . .  life is short, take advantage of the adventures that come your way!

Product for tags:

Happy Saturday!  I’ve got a busy, busy day today.  My sorority, Sigma Phi Gamma, is having a “Fall Into Christmas” Event today at Preservation Station here in Jeff and I’ve signed on to be a roamer/helper.  This is a new event for us . . . we have signed up Vendors (i.e., Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Longaberger, and many, many more), and opened the doors to the public.  If you are local and want to get a jump on some holiday shopping, come on over and join us!

I guess I forgot to mention that the image on yesterday’s card is from Crafty Secret’s Heartwarming Vintage booklet, Seasonal Images & Journal Notes.  I had it listed in the supplies, but I had actually typed a paragraph about it, and for some reason . . . . it disappeared from my post.  I didn’t color the image . . . . that’s how it comes . . . . ready to use!

Today’s card is for all you non-stitchers out there.  You know who you are . . . . those that say you can’t sew a straight line, never use a sewing machine, blah blah blah.

The image was stamped and embossed with gold and then mounted on rectangle Nesties™.  I also die cut/embossed some smaller rectangles, which are behind the sentiment panel.

Don’t you LOVE the ribbon?  Oh my gosh it makes beautiful bows and ties so nicely.  I first saw this ribbon at CHA while in the May Arts booth with my friend, Cindy Lyles.  I remarked then how pretty it was and then a package showed up at my front door.  My sweet, generous, lost sister-friend, sent me some in every color!

That’s all I have time for folks  . . . I’m off and running!  I hope you have a fabulous day and take advantage of any adventure that comes your way today!!!!

the corner!  Can you believe it?  Where has this year gone?  I was thinking about decorating the other day (not that I was going to decorate here) and realized that I threw my tree out last year.  Hmmm now the big question is . . . do I buy another 7 footer or simply use my little table top tree?

For those asking about my smoking . . . still not smoking!  I’m into week three of the patches and instead of sucking on straws, I’ve moved to toothpicks!  I will admit that I’m not able to sleep with the patches on so I’ve resorted to taking them off before bedtime.  When I get up in the morning I’ve been using a nicotine lozenge and then putting a patch on.  This seems to be working for me and I don’t have the major cravings for a cigarette.

On with today’s project.  I love this image of the kids playing in the snow and it just had to be part of a card.

Of course, you can’t have snow or a snowball without snowflakes!

Can you see the Krystallos glass shard glitter in the photo?

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous day!  Remember, life is short . . . . take advantage of the adventures that come your way!  Otherwise, eat dessert first!

it’s a tough act to follow!

Smiley from millan.net Happy Thursday morning!  I know I’ve been somewhat of a slacker this week, well slacking in work that I can show you . . . but not slacking in other work, or errands, or phone calls . . . . I’ve been busy but with what, I don’t know!

My project today is another one that I’ve had in mind for some time, just haven’t taken the time to put it to ink.  I’m still not convinced that this will be the final version of this . . . I’ve ordered some supplies (little trinkets and such) that I’m waiting on.

Some 15 or 20 years ago, I ordered a sweatshirt from Virginia Slims.  That’s when you could save the sides of your cigarette packs, send them in and receive free merchandise.   This is it in its well worn and loved state.

sweatshirt

Not only do I love it because it’s worn, soft, stained and a little holey, but I LOVE the sentiment on the front.  That’s the type of sentiment that belongs on a card, wall hanging, anything you can think of!

I also have to say that I LOVE the new Spellbinders™ Grand Nestabilities™.  I also received a Grand Calibur™ last week and trust me . . . . fabulous, especially for cutting GrungePaper with the Grand Nesties!  NOW I can die cut my own backs for wall hanging, plaques, etc.  I used the Grand Squares for today’s project, cutting the GrungePaper right at 6”.  Oh and if you are like me . . . . that little white flip switch on the front of the Grand Calibur . . . that’s to enable the base suction so you aren’t trying to hold the thing in place with your still sore, freshly healed broken wrist, so that it doesn’t walk across your work surface!

The base and frame for the words, be yourself, are made by die cutting with #4 and #5 of the Mega Ovals placed together with a space between the two.

If you are wondering, all the GrungePaper has been covered with CosmoCricket Wanted, well all except the leaves and swirly things.

I couldn’t resist adding the image of the cowgirl doing her ACT on horseback, and a cowgirl wouldn’t be a cowgirl unless there were boots involved.  Which reminds me of a sign my sister saw the other night at a local restaurant . . . . “No dancing on the table with spurs on.”  Okay . . . that’s gonna be something one day!

The remainder of the sentiment . . . . it’s a tough act to follow . . .  was generated on the computer and then die cut using Tags 5.

I think that’s all for right now!  I’ve so lost track of my thoughts . . . major brain fart! Smiley from millan.net

Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . . life is short, make of the most of today’s adventure!
