Good morning from CHA!  Today is the last day and then we move into the Jewelry, Fashion and Accessories Show.  This is what we all call the Craft Super Show and where all the stamping/scrapping booths will be to sell to the public.  I’m pretty excited about browsing the jewelry part of it to look for new embellishments, etc.

I got into a 7 Gypsies class today and worked with the 4×6 Photo Frame, new papers and rubbings . . . it was way too much fun!  It also gave me some ideas about working with the Photo Frames.  I’ve always loved them, but never could figure out what to do with them.  Now I know!

Something else was bothering me yesterday and I just want to clear the record for you here . . . I’m not asking YOU to boycott any die company, I was just telling you what I was doing.  That choice is yours and you are free to make it, just like I’m free to make my own.  I personally don’t care what you use . . . but if you are coming here to see those dies, you won’t find them.  It’s as simple as that!  My decision is very personal and one that has been coming for some months.

How about some stamping . . . one of my CHA projects for the Spellbinders booth.

SherryCheeverCHAJustRiteCard(5)

The focus sentiment is from JustRite Signs of Life.  After it was stamped in Archival Coffee, it was die cut/embossed with Circle Nestabilities.  Each layer is alternating between the Lacey Circles and Spellbinders new die template, Star Circles.  Layers of two have been raised with foam mounting tape.

To show a different use of the new Edgeabilities, this border was turned on the side and embossed the flower companion die.  Since the card was in light shades, I decided to go with a bow of seam binding dyed with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, embrace the adventures that come your way today!

Happy Friday!  I hope y’all have had a good week and are looking forward to the weekend.  I’m finding myself in crunch time here trying to get the normal monthly stuff done plus work on CHA projects.  As a matter of fact, the card I’m going to show you today has been sitting on my desk unfinished for 4 days.  Just not enough time in my days right now!

I know you didn’t come here to listen to me whine (yes, I’ll have some cheese please) and complain about all that is going on.

I got my hands on some 7 Gypsies Conservatory paper the other day and immediately had to open in it.  I’ve loved this paper since Winter CHA.  Actually, I had the JustRite lilies colored and sitting on my desk the day the paper arrived.  Once I opened the paper, I knew that it would match the lilies.

DayLilliesJune17

The lilies were stamped on watercolor paper and then water colored with Spiced Marmalade, Fired Brick, Dried Marigold, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge, Peeled Paint, Crushed Olive and Mustard Seed.  The border was stamped in Archival Coffee.  Because the colors were a little pale and soothing, I thought it would be fun to have orange ribbon . . . I dyed the seam binding with Spiced Marmalade (with a touch of Vintage Photo and Antique Linen) using this technique.

Short post from me today as I have too much on my plate and should not dilly dally.

I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Tuesday!  Wow did I have a fun and exciting day yesterday . . . we had a big storm come through early in the morning that caused a branch (from my neighbors tree) to come crashing down on our fence.  After a walk with the pups I decided to trim the part of the branch hanging over our fence.  You see I was going to be a BAD neighbor since this is my neighbor that bitched when I had a branch taken from one of their trees.  It was hanging over our garage and was just waiting to fall and come tumbling down.  I had it cut at the fence line and it looked absolutely hideous and someone (like me) was going to hit their head on the stub that was left, so I had it trimmed to the trunk.  It looked better, but I committed the most horrid neighbor sin . . . I didn’t consult her even though I was paying for it.  Oh might I also add that she had the tree trimmed a month before and left that one branch hanging . . . because . . . “that’s why we(they) have insurance”!

Anyway I started cutting the ends of the branch and the more I cut, the more it fell.  I finally got my chainsaw out and cut the damn thing up, carrying it all the street for the city to take away.  Little did I know that Mr. Stodgy had talked to her around 7:00 am asking if it damaged our fence and she said she would have it removed that morning.  I now think I should bill her $50 for my time!  BUT, at least I don’t have to look at it all week, which was the reason I ended up cutting it in the first place.

I also got in some stamping time and before the storms hit again, I got 6 more hanging pots made.  Now I only have 5 flats of flowers to finish planting.  Mr. S wouldn’t let me go buy flowers this year . . . he said I bought way too much . . . well, I have now made 9 hanging baskets, 4 extra large pots (taking more than 2 bags of dirt to fill), 4 medium pots and 2 smallish ones.  I would have purchased either hanging baskets or at least 4 to 6” pots . . . NOT flats!  Now keep in mind that with every plant I’ve put in, it’s not been by itself.  NOPE if I placed 1 white impatiens in, it was accompanied by 2 or 3 all put together.  I’ll have to take some pictures so you can see what I’m talking about.

Now that I’ve babbled on forever, let me show you my card for today.

I used another JustRite image today (because I have so many new ones and don’t often get to use them) from Backyard Birds.

May24Hummingbird

The image was water colored with Distress Inks: Spiced Marmalade, Pumice Stone, Stormy Sky, Peeled Paint, and Fired Brick.  The edges of everything were sponged with Antique Linen, which was also used on the seam binding ribbon.  Before I added the Antique Linen to the seam binding, it was dyed with Dried Marigold Distress Ink.  I really wanted the flowers to resemble that ever invasive plant, the trumpet vine.

One more thing before I leave you.  One of my Graphic 45 projects is being show cased on their blog today.  Please go over and check it out . . . it’s a notebook and a video tutorial.  If you miss it, I will be showcasing it here tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by and remember . . . life is short, embrace the adventures of the day!

Happy Monday!  The first thing I need to do today, is tell you that the winners of The E-Team Blog Hop will be posted on the eP Blog today!  Don’t forget to take a look and see if you are one of the winners.

So, I have to honestly tell you that I haven’t been in the mood to stamp lately.  I don’t know what it is . . . maybe the sunny weather and wanting to get outside, a slight burn out, or maybe even having enough family stuff going on that I’ve used it an excuse not to head into the studio.  It could also be that my work area is in the basement and now that it’s sunny outside, I don’t want to go down into the dark dungeon.  Whatever it is and after giving myself 2 weeks of self-pity, which has put me way behind again, I’m pulling myself up by my bootstraps and getting on with it.   Balance, I need balance and it’s time I got it back!

How about we talk about today’s project.

When I first started playing with the Webster’s Pages new Triple Pack, including Yacht Club, I realized that I needed to make a card one day with JustRite By the Sea.  I finally got this card made yesterday afternoon.  Of course Mallory said the image was too bright and I needed to dull it some . . . she’s probably right,  I was just too lazy to photograph everything again.

May23ByTheSea

The image was colored with Copic Markers.  The ones I used are pictured below:

May23ByTheSeaCOPICS

The seam binding was dyed with Antique Linen Distress Stain.  Antique Linen Distress Ink was used to sponge all the edges.

Well, I guess that’s all I have for today.  Tomorrow  one of my first projects for Graphic 45 is to be featured on their blog.  I think this is the one with the video tutorial.

I hope you have a fabulous day and thanks for stopping by!

Good rainy Monday morning!  I don’t think our rain is ever going to end . . . at least for this week it’s here to stay.  If you watch the weather and see the Ohio Valley line and see Louisville, KY on the map . . . that’s me.  I’m right across the river in Indiana and all I can say  . . . it’s wet!

I remember in 1997, March 2 to be exact.  It was Kate’s birthday and I had planned a huge skating party for her.  It started raining and didn’t stop.  All the roads and low lying areas flooded and the river was rising.  By the end of day we were moving my parents out of their home on the river.  It takes the river to rise 28 feet to be over the wall to be in the yard.  Their house was higher than most and it took another 4 feet to be in the upper portion of the house.  It ended with 4 feet of water in their house and the clean up was horrendous.  I don’t think the river is going to be that high when it crests this week, but it is expected to be 4 feet over the wall.   I am so glad my mother has finally sold the river house and Kate and Will have moved from there.  This is the first year in I don’t know how long (I can’t remember the first year my parents spent on the river, but I’m guessing early 80’s) that we won’t have to mess with moving stuff up and/or out of the house.  Can you hear my big sign of relief.

My studio is still gathering ground water and I have a line of beach towels holding it back.  When they get soaked, I replace them with dry ones and bring the wet ones up to take a spin in the washer and then the dryer.  They keep rotating periodically through out the day.  Luckily our power outages have not been as bad as the first day (14-16 hours I think).

I haven’t been getting the studio time that I’d like to have over the last week (because of the weather) and this has put me way behind on projects that need to be completed by the end of this week.   On Saturday, when my girls were at the movies, I did sneak in a little time (before the water got so bad again) to create a quick card.  Well I shouldn’t say quick because it took me all day, but only because of the water and switching towels, etc.  This is the project I have to share with you today.

April25Birds(5)

I used one of the bird images from the JustRite Back Yard Birds set and some of my new Melissa Frances paper (5th Avenue).  The image is colored with Copic Markers and the paper was all sewn to some Core’dinations cardstock.  Of course, you’ll also see many different Spellbinders™ die templates.

I’m going to finish my morning coffee and then head down to the studio to check on the towels and hopefully work some.  I’m trying to avoid bringing stuff upstairs to work because I know I won’t have all that I need at any given time . . . and I just can’t work like that!

I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
