I finally found a little time to stamp today and did this card for the color challenge on SCS. The challenge today was to use the colors Cool Caribbean, Certainly Celery and Elegant Eggplant. The idea for this card actually came to me while I was lolling in the hot tub this morning. I seem to get more ideas and solve all the worlds’ problems in the early mornings – while lolling! If I’m edgy, depressed or just plain ole blah, a few minutes in the hot tub and I’m at peace!

So, this morning while I was contemplating some personal things that have happened over the last month or so, I remembered a phrase that my dad once told me . . . Small minds discuss people, Average minds discuss events, and Great minds discuss ideas. I would like to be able to credit the original author, but I just can’t remember. This is a phrase from an old newspaper clipping that my dad carried in his wallet. He gave it to me to help me get over some hard times, I still have it – just don’t know where at this precise moment. He would not be happy with me! Anyhoo, there are times that I need to remind myself the difference of being small minded or great minded. For the most part, I choose to be of great mind and need to remember that those people who do talk about you in a negative manner are simply being small minded. Here is today’s card – a tribute to my dad (now I hope he quits turning on my living room light)!

Yesterday I was working on a card and when I got down to the finishing touches, I was looking for just the right ribbon. Now I keep my ribbon stored in 3 plastic bins on the top shelve of a rack in the studio. There was also a bag of new ribbon that I found at Meijers on clearance hanging on the side of the rack. As I was searching and searching for the perfect ribbon, it dawned on me — wait maybe some of that ribbon I got in TexasJodyLynn’s ribbon share will work. So I pulled the drawer out and ribbon flew everywhere!

I decided at that very point in time that I really needed to do some ribbon organizing. I searched throught the studio for something that I could use and . . . brainstorm . . . I have all these chipboard coasters that I’ve received from Silvia Mabie (stampinsilvia on SCS). I have them in all the sizes – thin, middle and heavyweight. Of course, the heavyweight were the ones that I broke the cuttlebug plates with, and being the *inventive* person that I am, decided to use the heavyweight coasters to roll my ribbon on. Here are the results:

Unwound Ribbon

This is the ribbon in its partially messy state. It didn’t occur to me to take a picture until I was half-way through organizing!

Wound Ribbon

And here’s the finished bin! So much nicer!

I hope everyone has a great day — I’m off to stamp now!
