Happy Monday!  So is it snowing where you are?  I heard on the news that it was 70 in California . . . . excuse me . . . . it’s in the teens here in Southern Indiana and it’s not expected to be much warmer any time soon!  I’ll be ready for that warm weather by the time CHA rolls around.

Do y’all remember this?

plainwoodbox

I decided yesterday that it was time to alter that box.

LargeRoseBoxFront

I’ve been adding to my Studio 490 sets over the last few months (because I absolutely LOVE the backgrounds) and decided to use different backgrounds to stamp on the roses.

LargeRoseBoxCloseUpRoses

Backgrounds from Ticket to Art, Forever Art and Art by the Number were stamped in Snowcap Pigment Ink on the GrungePaper before I began applying the Distress Inks.   I decided it might be fun to have different color roses, so here’s the list:  Mustard Seed, Dusty Concord, Barn Door, Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick and Broken China.  The leaves were done in Crushed Olive and Peeled Paint.

As with the previous rose box, I painted it black inside and out, then sanded down certain areas to make it look old.  Those sanded areas were highlighted with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

LargeRoseBoxSide

I used two extra flourishes that I had previously die cut with Tim  Holtz Elegant Flourishes Alterations.  I painted them gold and used portions of them on the top of the box.

LargeRoseBoxTop

I haven’t decided yet what this is going to be used for.  It could be a Birthday or a  Christmas gift or just something I keep and hold onto for awhile.  Who knows . . . it was just something fun to work on over a cold and snowy weekend!

Thanks for stopping by and remember . . .  life is short, take advantage of the adventures that some your way today!

    Eli (It’s 52 here…)

  2. Oh Sherry love it!! You make such awesome flowers I wish I could do that good of a job at making flowers. Lovely box!!

  3. You are an expert on those roses and they are beautiful! Love all those Studio 490 backgrounds, too! It’s going to be 85 degrees here today. Wishing you sunshine!

  4. Sherry I love you so much. Your talent is so so inspiring. I get so happy with each email from you. It is like opening a present and not knowing what prize will be at the other side. Keep on sending them to me and making my days brighter.

  5. HA! I just got back from LA Saturday night and was not happy to return to 30+/snow & ice in Chicago 🙁 Should’ve stayed but boys have school. HA!

  8. It was 10 degrees here in Northwest Arkansas this morning and the high today was a whopping 30 degrees and that’s with wind. Lovely Monday to go back to work. No snow, thankfully. I love your box and all of your work.

  9. Do you want to hear that it hit the 80’s today in So Cal?!! hehe!! (I so do NOT miss the winter weather!!)

Love your box! Someday I’m going to just sit down and play. Someday…..

  10. This box looks wonderful. A great place to put treasured keepsakes. I live in California, and while it may be in the 70s in southern California, in the Sierras it’s cold and snowing. A white out is forecast in the next couple of days. CA includes more than half the coast line of the US, desserts, mountains, and everything in between. It’s a big place and lots of folks think the weather is always great here. We’ve got WEATHER and earthquakes–hard to get bored. Hope you are having a cozy Christmas.

  11. Simple gorgeous box but all your projects are! Thank you for sharing – it really is inspiring to see the transformations you perform!
